About Us
The mission of the Monroe County Office of Homeland Security & Emergency Management is to lessen the loss of life and reduce injuries and property damage during natural and man-made incidents/events through mitigation (reducing the negative impact of disasters before they occur), preparedness (including the public and First Responders, conducting training and exercises for First Responders, creating/updating emergency plans), response (coordinating quick and timely response by providing resources and equipping First Responders), and recovery (coordinating and expending restoration efforts).
